Israeli Strike in Southern Lebanon Kills Five After Ceasefire Agreement

At least five people have been killed in an Israeli air strike on southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese state media, hours after a ceasefire agreement was reached with Hezbollah.

The attack came after Israeli warplanes and drones reportedly carried out a series of strikes despite the truce announced just one day earlier.

The latest violence occurred as US envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi travelled to Switzerland for diplomatic talks.

The United States said the next round of Lebanon-Israel talks will take place in Washington from June 23 to 25.

Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to a ceasefire following intense Israeli air strikes across southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz increased after a deal aimed at stopping the US-Iran conflict.

The situation remains tense as international efforts continue to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
