Ireland Deports 42 South African Nationals, Including 15 Children

Irish authorities have deported 42 South African nationals from Ireland, including 15 children, according to the Minister for Justice, Jim O'Callaghan.

The group — made up of nine men, 18 women, and 15 minors from family groups — arrived in Johannesburg on Thursday morning after being flown from Dublin on a charter flight.

Two of those deported had previously been convicted of offences in Ireland.

The deportation operation was carried out by the Garda National Immigration Bureau following deportation orders issued by the Minister for Justice.

It was the fourth deportation charter flight conducted by Ireland this year. The Department of Justice said that 130 people have so far been removed from the country, including 67 European Union citizens deported on criminality grounds.

The department confirmed that the latest charter flight cost €735,000.

Minister O'Callaghan said deportation orders are a key requirement for ensuring Ireland’s immigration system operates effectively.
