Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held separate meetings with Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad, where both sides discussed ways to expand strategic cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
During talks with Field Marshal Munir, the two leaders reviewed regional developments, Iran-Pakistan relations, and opportunities to enhance political, security, and defense cooperation. They emphasized the importance of closer coordination on security matters.
President Pezeshkian thanked the Pakistani government, people, Prime Minister, and Army Chief for their efforts in supporting mediation and peace initiatives in the region.
He also stressed the importance of unity among Muslim-majority countries, calling for stronger cooperation and the creation of a united Islamic bloc to address shared challenges.
Pezeshkian described stronger Iran-Pakistan relations as a necessity and said ties between the two countries could enter a new phase of development in various fields.
In his meeting with President Zardari, discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional stability, economic cooperation, and mutual interests.
The Pakistani Presidency said both leaders expressed their commitment to opening a new chapter of strategic partnership between Tehran and Islamabad.
President Zardari welcomed Pezeshkian’s visit, saying it reflected the long-standing friendship between Iran and Pakistan. He also praised the resilience of the Iranian people and emphasized Pakistan’s support for peace, sovereignty, and regional stability.
The two sides also discussed the implementation of agreements between Iran and Pakistan, with Pezeshkian saying the visit aimed to advance cooperation within international law and protect Iran’s interests.
