The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of Mrs. Busayo Adelabu-John Paul, sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons following their abduction earlier this week.
The police spokesperson in Oyo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, announced the development in a statement released on Saturday night.
Mrs. Adelabu-John Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped in the early hours of June 3 while she was taking the children to school in Ibadan. According to reports, armed men intercepted their vehicle in the Elewura area of Challenge and forcefully took them away.
The incident generated widespread concern across Oyo State and beyond due to the family's prominence and Chief Adelabu's political profile.
Reacting to the rescue, Chief Adelabu's media aide, Femi Awogboro, expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government, security agencies, members of the media, friends, and well-wishers for their support and concern throughout the ordeal.
Awogboro confirmed that Mrs. Adelabu-John Paul and her sons were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their family.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details of the rescue operation or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the kidnapping.
The successful operation brings relief to the family and marks a significant breakthrough for security agencies investigating the case.
