Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has praised fathers for their sacrifices, describing their dedication as a major force that keeps families and society united.
In his message marking the 2026 Father’s Day celebration, the governor commended fathers across Rivers State and Nigeria for their love, resilience, guidance, and commitment to providing for their families despite economic and social challenges.
Fubara said Father’s Day provides an opportunity to recognise the often-unseen efforts fathers make to support their children and loved ones.
He noted that fathers across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State continue to work hard under difficult conditions to create better opportunities for the next generation.
According to him, a father’s love is shown through responsibility, discipline, compassion, and daily sacrifices.
The governor described many fathers who endure hardships to secure a better future for their children as true heroes, adding that strong families contribute to peaceful communities and sustainable development.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a Rivers State that recognises and rewards the efforts and sacrifices of its people.
Fubara also prayed for fathers, grandfathers, guardians, mentors, and father figures to receive continued blessings, strength, good health, and long life.
Father’s Day is celebrated every third Sunday of June to honour the important role fathers play in raising families and contributing to society.
