A Belgium-based human rights organization has urged Indian authorities to investigate and detain an Israeli military reservist currently visiting northern India, alleging his involvement in actions that may constitute war crimes during the conflict in Gaza.
The organization, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF), submitted a formal complaint to Indian law enforcement and immigration authorities, claiming that Israeli reservist Eitan Gilboa participated in the destruction of civilian neighborhoods in Gaza. According to the group, evidence gathered includes videos, social media posts, and other materials allegedly documenting the incidents.
HRF stated that the evidence shows Gilboa taking part in the demolition of residential buildings in areas such as Khan Younis and Rafah. The organization argues that the actions violated international humanitarian law and has called on India to fulfill its obligations under the Geneva Conventions by examining the allegations.
The foundation, named after Palestinian child Hind Rajab, has been actively collecting evidence related to alleged violations during the Gaza conflict. It says it has submitted numerous legal complaints in different countries and to international bodies seeking accountability for suspected war crimes.
According to HRF, videos posted online allegedly show Gilboa celebrating or documenting the destruction of buildings during military operations. The group maintains that such actions warrant legal scrutiny and possible prosecution under international law.
HRF Director Dyab Abou Jahjah called on Indian authorities to take immediate action, arguing that individuals accused of serious violations should not be able to travel freely without facing investigation.
As of publication, there was no immediate public response from Gilboa regarding the allegations. Indian authorities have also not announced any action related to the complaint.
The case adds to growing international efforts by advocacy groups and legal organizations seeking accountability for actions committed during the Gaza war, a conflict that has drawn widespread global attention and legal debate over alleged violations of international law.
