Nigerian Army troops, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, have rescued Mrs. Amina Abubakar, the widow of late Major General Rabe Abubakar, after she was abducted by bandits alongside her husband weeks ago.
According to the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue operations carried out by Operation Fansan Yamma troops.
Security forces reportedly engaged the bandits at Tunga Village, leading to Mrs. Abubakar’s recovery. During the encounter, the kidnappers shot her before abandoning her and fleeing under pressure from advancing troops.
She was immediately evacuated to a military hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding positively.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring her full recovery and pledged continued support to her family. Military authorities also said operations are ongoing to track down those responsible and strengthen efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal groups across affected communities in Katsina State and other parts of the country.
