Adamawa crash claims six lives, including four NYSC members and soldier, after military truck collides with bus

Six people have been confirmed dead in a devastating road accident along the Girei–Song road in Adamawa State, including four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and a soldier.

According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the crash happened on Wednesday afternoon when a military gun truck heading from Gombi to Yola collided head-on with a commercial Hummer bus traveling from Yola to Mubi.

Police spokesperson Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said the impact caused the bus to overturn and burst into flames, trapping all passengers inside. The victims were burned beyond recognition.

Preliminary reports indicate that four of those killed were NYSC corps members serving in the state. Two have been identified as Suleuman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both from Kaduna State, while efforts continue to identify the remaining victims.

A soldier in the military vehicle also died, bringing the total number of fatalities to six.

Emergency responders and security personnel were deployed to the scene, and the bodies have been deposited at the Specialist Hospital, Yola.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, while condolences have been extended to the families of the victims, the military, and the National Youth Service Corps.
