Newly leaked US intelligence assessments indicate that Iran still possesses significant missile strength despite repeated claims by the administration of Donald Trump that the country’s military power had been severely weakened.
According to a report by The New York Times, intelligence findings compiled in early May revealed that Iran has restored access to most of its missile facilities, including 30 out of 33 sites near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The assessment reportedly found that Iran still retains around 70 percent of its missile stockpile and mobile launchers from before the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel between February and April 2026.
The report also stated that nearly 90 percent of Iran’s underground missile storage and launch sites are now either partially or fully operational.
However, White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales rejected claims that Tehran had successfully rebuilt its military capabilities, insisting the current situation was “not sustainable” for Iran.
During the conflict, Trump repeatedly claimed that American attacks had significantly damaged Iran’s military strength. Despite this, Iran carried out waves of retaliatory missile and drone operations targeting American and Israeli assets across the region.
Meanwhile, senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have continued to warn that Iran’s missile and drone forces remain ready for further action if tensions escalate again.
