U.S. President Donald Trump has concluded a two-day visit to Beijing after high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping focused on trade, oil supplies, Taiwan and regional security issues.
The visit marked Trump’s first trip to China in nearly ten years and featured formal ceremonies, a state banquet and bilateral meetings aimed at easing tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
According to Chinese state media, both leaders agreed on a framework described as “strategic stability” to guide relations between Washington and Beijing over the next three years.
Trump also claimed China agreed to increase purchases of U.S. oil and sign a major deal with Boeing for 200 aircraft. The announcement came during an interview with Fox News following the summit.
The talks reportedly covered a wide range of international issues, including the situation involving Iran, trade disputes, and tensions surrounding Taiwan.
Analysts say the Beijing summit could influence global markets, energy prices and future U.S.-China relations ahead of upcoming diplomatic engagements later this year.
