Malaysia says it is preparing to bring a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) following allegations of abuse and unlawful detention involving activists aboard a Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla.
Selangor Chief Minister Amirudin Shari stated that Malaysian authorities are gathering evidence and legal documentation related to the incident before formally proceeding with international legal action.
The flotilla, known as Global Sumud 2, was carrying hundreds of international activists attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza when Israeli forces intercepted the vessels in international waters last week.
Malaysian officials accused Israeli forces of abducting and mistreating participants, including claims of physical abuse and degrading treatment involving several Malaysian activists.
Shari said Malaysia would continue diplomatic efforts in support of Palestinians and called for stronger international attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Organizers of the flotilla also alleged that activists faced assaults and harsh treatment during the interception operation. Israel has not publicly responded to the latest accusations.
The mission was part of ongoing international efforts to challenge the blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian assistance to the territory, which has faced severe shortages of food, medicine, and essential supplies during the conflict.
Malaysian officials said future advocacy campaigns and additional flotilla missions are being planned as part of continued support for Palestine.
