Iran Says Two Individuals Arrested on Espionage Charges While Posing as Journalists

Iranian security forces have arrested two individuals accused of spying for foreign intelligence services while allegedly operating under the cover of journalism, according to a statement from Tehran police.

Authorities said the suspects were active in western and northern areas of the capital and were gathering sensitive information about military and critical infrastructure sites. The data was reportedly transmitted to foreign-based networks.

The arrests were carried out following surveillance and technical intelligence operations, officials said. The suspects have been handed over to judicial authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Iranian police claim the individuals had established communication channels with foreign handlers and used satellite internet equipment during their activities, which was seized during the operation.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional details may be released later.
