Iran Calls on BRICS to Denounce US-Israeli Military Actions

Iran has urged BRICS nations to publicly condemn what Tehran described as violations of international law by the United States and Israel during the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Speaking at the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Washington and Tel Aviv of “aggression” against Iran and called on member states to resist what he described as Western dominance in global affairs.

Araghchi also alleged that the United Arab Emirates had played a direct role in military operations targeting Iran, marking one of the strongest accusations Tehran has made against the Gulf nation since the conflict escalated earlier this year.

The expanded BRICS bloc — which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, United Arab Emirates and other members — met amid rising tensions over the war and growing instability in global energy markets.

India’s Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar acknowledged the uncertain international climate as delegates gathered for closed-door discussions in the Indian capital.

Concerns over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continued to dominate talks, with oil shipping routes facing mounting pressure due to the conflict. India, one of the world’s largest oil importers, relies heavily on supplies passing through the strategic waterway.

Iran maintained that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains open to vessels cooperating with Iranian naval authorities.

Diplomatic divisions within BRICS also surfaced during the meeting, with Iranian officials warning that disagreements among member states over the Middle East conflict could weaken the bloc’s global image ahead of the BRICS leaders’ summit scheduled later this year in India.
