Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail story in Quran.

The story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ismail (Ishmael) is one of the most powerful examples of faith, obedience, and trust in Allah in the Qur’an.

1. The Test of Sacrifice.

One of the most well-known parts of their story is when Allah tested Ibrahim (AS) with a العظيم trial. Ibrahim saw in a dream that he was sacrificing his son Ismail (AS). Since the dreams of prophets are a form of revelation, he knew it was a command from Allah.

He approached his son and said:

> “O my son! Indeed I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice you, so see what you think.”

(Qur’an 37:102)

Ismail (AS), showing remarkable faith and obedience, replied:

> “O my father! Do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient.”

(Qur’an 37:102).

As Ibrahim prepared to carry out the command, both father and son fully submitted to Allah’s will. At the moment of sacrifice, Allah intervened and replaced Ismail with a ram:

> “And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.”

(Qur’an 37:107)

This event is commemorated every year by Muslims during Eid al-Adha.

2. Building the Kaaba.

Another important part of their story is when Ibrahim (AS) and Ismail (AS) were commanded to build the Kaaba in Makkah, the first house of worship dedicated to Allah.

As they built it together, they made this heartfelt dua:

> “Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”

(Qur’an 2:127).

They also prayed for a righteous nation and a messenger to come from their descendants—this was later fulfilled with the coming of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

3. Lessons from Their Story.

Complete obedience to Allah even when it is difficult

Strong faith and trust (Tawakkul) in Allah’s wisdom

Patience and sacrifice in times of trial

Family cooperation in worship and righteousness

Conclusion.

The story of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail (peace be upon them) teaches Muslims the true meaning of submission (Islam). Their unwavering faith and obedience remain a timeless example for believers to follow in their daily lives.
