Germany has approved approximately $930 million worth of weapons and military equipment exports to Israel between January and June 2026, according to a government response to a parliamentary inquiry cited by Der Spiegel.
The approved exports are more than four times the total value authorized throughout 2025. About one-fifth of the exports were linked to German-Israeli military cooperation involving the German armed forces.
Around two-thirds of the approved amount reportedly relates to the INS Drakon, a nearly 70-metre Dolphin II-class submarine built for Israel by German shipbuilder ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. The submarine left Kiel on Tuesday and is reportedly heading toward the region.
The remaining exports include small arms, ammunition, explosives and drones, although they were not classified as “weapons of war.”
Germany had previously suspended exports of weapons that could be used in Gaza on August 8, following Israel’s decision to expand its military operations in the territory. However, Berlin later eased those restrictions.
Lea Reisner, foreign affairs spokesperson for Germany’s Left Party, accused the government of applying “double standards” by criticizing inflammatory statements by Israeli officials while continuing to provide military support to Israel.
The Left Party renewed its call for an immediate and comprehensive halt to German arms exports to Israel.
Germany has long described its support for Israel as part of its historical responsibility stemming from the Nazi era and the Holocaust. According to the report, Berlin approved €327 million in arms exports to Israel in 2023, €161.1 million in 2024 and €260 million in 2025.
