Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umar, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, and made available to The PUNCH on Saturday.
Governor Yusuf made the announcement at the Rano Emirate on Friday after attending the wedding and turbaning ceremony of the Emir’s first son, Muhammad Abubakar Isa.
The governor explained that the decision followed the arrangement under which the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr Abdulkadir Ibrahim, led Kano State’s delegation during the previous Hajj.
“Next year’s Hajj 2027, the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, is going to be the Amirul Hajj,” Yusuf said.
The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umar, and members of the emirate expressed appreciation to the governor for the appointment and described it as an honour.
The appointment means the Emir of Rano will lead Kano State’s delegation during the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
