Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially been promoted to the rank of Specialist in the United States Army, 17 weeks after beginning his military training.
Momodu announced the achievement on Instagram on Thursday, August 27, 2026, sharing photos of himself in military uniform alongside fellow U.S. Army personnel.
The actor completed 17 weeks of Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as part of his preparation for his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).
Celebrating the achievement, Momodu said he was proud that the new rank was earned through discipline, hard work and determination.

From Nollywood to the U.S. Army
Momodu publicly revealed his decision to join the U.S. Army in June 2026. He had earlier completed the initial 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training, which he described as physically and mentally demanding.
The actor also explained that his late father’s career in the Nigerian Police Force influenced his decision to pursue a career in military service.
Having now completed both Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, Momodu has officially attained the Specialist rank.
His transition from Nollywood to military service has attracted considerable attention from fans and colleagues, many of whom have celebrated the actor as he begins a new chapter in his life.
