Human Rights Watch says escalating violence by Israeli settlers, combined with Israeli settlement expansion and a lack of protection for Palestinians, is forcing residents from communities across the occupied West Bank.
In a report released on Thursday, HRW accused Israeli authorities of arming, funding and shielding settlers from accountability for attacks on Palestinians.
The rights group said its investigation into seven West Bank communities found cases involving killings, physical and psychological abuse, sexual violence, arson, property destruction, theft and arbitrary detention.
HRW said armed settlers sometimes carried out attacks alongside Israeli soldiers, while troops allegedly stood by without intervening.
The organisation also cited UN figures showing that more Palestinians were displaced by settler attacks, demolitions and evictions during the first four months of 2026 than throughout the whole of 2025.
According to the report, 107 Palestinian communities involving about 5,900 people have been fully or partially displaced by settler violence since January 2023.
HRW called for targeted sanctions against individuals involved in abuses, an end to weapons transfers to Israel, a trade ban on goods from illegal settlements and a review of preferential trade agreements with Israel.
