At least 51 Palestinians were injured after Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid in the Qalandiya refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials.
The operation reportedly began with the demolition of commercial shops near the Qalandiya checkpoint before Israeli troops imposed a curfew on the nearby town of Kafr Aqab and closed roads leading to Jerusalem.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said 35 people were taken to hospital after allegedly being beaten, while six others received treatment at the scene. One person was injured by a rubber-coated steel bullet, and six people suffered from tear gas inhalation.
PRCS also stated that its ambulance crews were initially prevented from reaching the injured but later managed to evacuate several patients, including people requiring kidney dialysis.
Local media reported that dozens of Palestinians, including women and children, were detained for field questioning during the operation. Journalists covering the raid also reported being ordered to leave the area after stun grenades were fired near their location.
Elsewhere, Israeli forces reportedly conducted a separate raid in the city of Jenin, where one Palestinian was shot and another was assaulted, according to the PRCS.
The incident comes amid continued tensions in the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian officials and international organisations have reported an increase in Israeli military operations, settler violence, property demolitions, and land seizures in recent months.
Israeli authorities have previously stated that military operations in the West Bank are aimed at maintaining security and countering militant activity. The latest raid adds to growing international concern over the escalating violence in the territory.
