An Israeli drone strike on a civilian vehicle in southwestern Syria has injured several people, according to Syria’s Foreign Ministry.
The strike targeted a small delivery truck near Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside. Syrian officials said the attack injured civilians and condemned it as a violation of Syria’s sovereignty and international law.
Israel’s military confirmed carrying out the strike, saying it targeted a person allegedly involved in preparing terrorist attacks who posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces.
Residents said Israeli reconnaissance drones had been flying over the area for several days before the attack. A medical source said one wounded man, reportedly a civilian driver, was taken to hospital and was in stable condition with an injury to his right hand.
The incident comes amid repeated Israeli military operations in Syria, particularly in the south. Syrian officials say Damascus remains committed to de-escalation and is pursuing a security arrangement with Israel through US mediation based on the 1974 disengagement agreement.
Israeli officials, meanwhile, have increasingly described southern Syria as a security zone aimed at preventing threats and limiting the presence of forces considered hostile to Israel.
