Iran has said its navy remains “alive and well” and is prepared to defend the country, rejecting claims by US President Donald Trump that Iran’s naval forces have been destroyed.
Iranian Navy Commander Shahram Irani made the statement, according to the state broadcaster IRIB.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei also urged Muslim leaders to recognise what he described as their “real enemy”, understand its plans and confront it.
Meanwhile, Iran’s continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz is putting growing pressure on neighbouring countries and affecting regional trade.
The war has also worsened economic difficulties inside Iran, with residents in Tehran reporting falling purchasing power and increasing concerns about their future.
In Gaza, a three-year-old child was killed after being wounded in an Israeli air strike in western Deir el-Balah. Another man was also killed in the attack, which Israel said targeted a Hamas commander.
Israeli forces have also continued operations in the occupied West Bank, including another raid on a UNRWA-run facility near the Qalandiya refugee camp.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli forces reportedly carried out artillery attacks and set fire to property and olive groves in several areas, according to Lebanon’s official National News Agency.
