Gunmen Kill Two Security Operatives in Plateau Ambush

Two security operatives have been killed after suspected gunmen ambushed a joint security patrol along the Ganawuri–Sabon Gida road in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday after four operatives, deployed from two security formations, completed a patrol operation and were returning to their duty posts.

According to security sources, two members of the team failed to return, prompting an immediate search. Their bodies were later found at the scene of the attack, while their service rifles had been taken by the assailants. However, the motorcycle used by the operatives was recovered.

In response, security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation across nearby communities to track down the attackers and recover the stolen weapons.

The identities of the deceased operatives had not been officially released at the time of reporting. Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace were unsuccessful.
