The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the National Population Commission (NPC), has introduced VitalReg, a new online platform that allows Nigerians to register births and deaths and access related civil registration services without first visiting an NPC office.
The digital portal enables users to:
Register births and deaths online.
Apply for birth attestation.
Correct registration records.
Verify birth and death certificates.
Access other civil registration services.
How to Apply Online
1. Visit the NPC VitalReg self-service portal.
2. Select the service you need, such as birth registration, death registration, birth attestation, record correction, or certificate verification.
3. Enter the required personal and registration information accurately.
4. Complete the application by following the on-screen instructions and submit your request.
5. Track or verify your application through the available options on the platform.
Applicants are advised to ensure that all information matches their official documents to avoid delays or the need for corrections.

Those who are unable to complete the process online can visit any National Population Commission registration centre across the country for assistance.
The Federal Government said the VitalReg platform is part of its efforts to modernize civil registration, reduce paperwork and long queues, and improve access to legal identity documents, which are essential for services such as healthcare, education, passport applications, banking, and government programmes.
