The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Olabisi Onabanjo University branch, has commended the university’s management for its improved performance in the July 2026 Webometrics Global Ranking.
In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Yinusa Ganiyu, on Friday, the union specifically praised the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, and his management team for the achievement.
ASUU-OOU said the improved ranking reflects the university’s growing visibility, academic productivity, research output, digital presence and international recognition.
The union said the achievement demonstrates the commitment of the university’s management, staff and students to repositioning the institution.
ASUU also called on the entire university community to continue supporting the university’s leadership and work together to sustain and improve the progress recorded over the past four years.
The union warned against distractions or actions that could undermine the gains already achieved or return the university to its previous difficulties.
ASUU stressed that the interests of Olabisi Onabanjo University should remain the priority of all stakeholders, including management, academic and non-academic staff, students and unions.
According to the latest Webometrics ranking, Olabisi Onabanjo University is ranked 2,338th out of about 32,000 universities globally, 57th in Africa and eighth in Nigeria.
