The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Abdul’aziz Yari, has assured Nigerians that the ruling party will fulfil the promises it made during the 2023 presidential campaign as it prepares to seek President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Yari gave the assurance on Sunday after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja from an overseas trip. He was welcomed by APC supporters, associates and well-wishers following his appointment as Director-General of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
Speaking to journalists, Yari said the APC remained committed to delivering on its promises to Nigerians.
> “Whatever promise we made during the campaign, we shall keep. Today, we have seen him [Bola Ahmed Tinubu] as President, and by God’s grace, he shall be President come 2027,” Yari said.
The former Zamfara State governor and current senator representing Zamfara West said the large turnout of supporters at the airport demonstrated their confidence in President Tinubu and the APC.
He appealed to party members to continue supporting the President and pray for the success of his administration.
Yari also expressed confidence that the APC would retain power beyond Tinubu’s second term, urging members to strengthen the party’s structures across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council was formally announced on Saturday as the party intensified preparations for the election.
Yari brings extensive political experience to the campaign, having previously served as governor of Zamfara State and chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
The APC, which has controlled the Federal Government since 2015, is expected to make the performance of the Tinubu administration a major focus of its 2027 campaign.
The ruling party is also expected to face a strong challenge from opposition parties seeking to form a broad coalition to unseat it.
Yari’s immediate responsibility will include coordinating the presidential campaign, mobilising APC structures nationwide and presenting the administration’s policies and achievements to voters ahead of the 2027 election.
