The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has announced a record revenue collection of ₦323 billion in July 2026, its highest monthly collection since the command was established.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Isah, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, saying the record was announced by the Customs Area Controller, Emmanuel Oshoba, during a meeting with Deputy Comptrollers and heads of units.
The latest figure surpasses the command’s previous record of ₦304 billion, recorded in October 2025.
Oshoba attributed the increase to a combination of government policy support, operational reforms, improved compliance and stronger enforcement measures.
He also commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the management team for their efforts to modernise the Nigeria Customs Service.
According to Oshoba, improvements to the B’Odogwu digital system, the One-Stop Shop initiative, and the Authorised Economic Operator framework have contributed significantly to the command’s improved revenue performance.
He said intelligence-led enforcement operations had also helped detect false declarations and ensure compliance with customs valuation rules, thereby protecting government revenue.
Oshoba further credited the relatively stable foreign exchange market under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the improved predictability had enabled businesses to plan better and conduct import and export activities with greater confidence.
He urged customs officers to focus not only on revenue generation but also on trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.
The Area Controller also directed officers to resolve disputes promptly, follow proper documentation procedures and strengthen the Post-Clearance Audit process.
On relations with stakeholders, Oshoba urged officers to treat members of the business community with respect and professionalism, saying they should leave customs offices with hope rather than frustration.
He further called for stronger security awareness, continuous training, discipline and adherence to approved procedures.
While congratulating officers and compliant stakeholders on the record revenue collection, Oshoba described the achievement as a stepping stone to further revenue records before the end of 2026.
