About 500 Islamic scholars and religious leaders from Northern Nigeria have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election, according to his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari.
Masari disclosed this in a statement following his participation in the Northern Muslim Intellectual Forum held in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The forum brought together Islamic scholars, intellectuals, religious leaders and other stakeholders from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory to discuss security, infrastructure and economic development in the region.
According to the statement, participants expressed support for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to address insecurity and other challenges confronting the North.
They reportedly passed a unanimous resolution endorsing Tinubu for another term, citing his administration’s economic reforms, infrastructure development, security initiatives and broader national development efforts.
The participants also passed a vote of confidence in the President and urged Nigerians, particularly those in the North, to support his re-election and vote for other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
The gathering was attended by Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani.
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Minister of Housing and Urban Development Muttaka Darma were also present.
The reported endorsement came shortly after the APC released the list of members of President Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council.
