Two Kidnapped Siblings Freed as Abductors Release Mother's Corpse, One Victim Still Held in Benue.

Two of the three siblings kidnapped while transporting their late mother's body from Abuja to Benue State for burial have regained their freedom, while security agencies continue efforts to rescue the third sibling still being held by the abductors.

The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday along the Ogobia–Otukpo Road between Omutele and Ankpechi in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State. The family was travelling to Iklenyi Community in Okpokwu Local Government Area for their mother's burial when armed men intercepted their vehicle and abducted the three siblings.

According to a local resident, the kidnappers released two of the victims on Saturday night and also handed over the body of the deceased woman to allow the family proceed with her burial. However, one sibling remains in captivity.

The Chairman of Ohimini Local Government Area, Gabriel Adole, confirmed that the deceased's body had been released and taken to Okpokwu for burial. He added that security personnel, including police officers, soldiers, and other security agencies, have launched a search operation in the surrounding forest to rescue the remaining captive.

The Benue State Police Command said it had not yet received an official report from the Divisional Police Officer in Ohimini regarding the incident.

Authorities have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of the remaining victim and bring the perpetrators to justice.
