Trump Warns of Renewed Military Action if Iran Nuclear Talks Collapse

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is prepared to authorize renewed military action against Iran if ongoing diplomatic negotiations fail to produce results.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, Trump revealed that he suspended planned U.S. strikes to allow mediators more time to pursue a diplomatic solution. He said discussions involving Iran, Oman, Qatar, Egypt, Pakistan and U.S. envoys are focused on easing tensions and reviving negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.

"We are in very deep talks with Iran. If they don't work out, we will go back to very strong military action," Trump said, adding that he is only willing to give diplomacy a limited amount of time.

According to Trump, several countries in the region urged him to delay military operations, believing there was still an opportunity to reach an agreement. He also noted that global oil prices fell and stock markets reacted positively after the U.S. paused its planned strikes.

Regional officials say negotiations have made progress, although no final agreement has been reached. One proposal under discussion would establish a framework for securing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz while allowing regional countries to collect service fees for maritime security and environmental protection.

Trump is expected to discuss the Iran situation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a meeting at the White House on Tuesday, where regional security and Iran's nuclear ambitions are likely to top the agenda.
