Three people were killed and four others, including a two-year-old child, were injured after a shooting at the popular Bite of Seattle food festival in Seattle, Washington, on Sunday.
According to Seattle police, the incident is believed to have resulted from a gunfight involving two suspects. One suspect surrendered to officers at the scene, while the second suspect fled and remains at large.
Assistant Seattle Police Chief Tyrone Davis said investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public, but efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspect. Authorities described the suspect in custody only as a "young person" and declined to release further details.
The shooting occurred around 6:00 p.m. local time near the Seattle Center, beneath the iconic Space Needle, sending festival attendees running for safety.
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson described the incident as a "horrific act of violence," expressing concern over the recent rise in gun-related crimes in the city. She noted that Seattle had experienced three major gun violence incidents within a matter of days.
Police confirmed that the victims who died were two men, aged 19 and 44, and a 56-year-old woman. The four injured victims, including the toddler, were reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
A vendor who was livestreaming from the festival inadvertently captured the chaos as gunfire erupted, with video showing crowds fleeing in panic while shots rang out.
Police have launched an investigation into the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
