Singapore Minister Resigns Over Inappropriate Interactions With Woman.

Singapore's Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs, Faishal Ibrahim, has resigned from the Cabinet, Parliament, and the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) following what Prime Minister Lawrence Wong described as inappropriate interactions with a woman.

In a statement issued on Monday, Wong said most of the interactions took place through online messages, while the two also met during public events. He added that both individuals accused each other of harassment, prompting a police investigation.

The Prime Minister clarified that investigators found no criminal offence had been committed and that no criminal charges would be filed. However, he said Faishal's conduct did not meet the ethical standards expected of a political office holder.

In his resignation letter, Faishal admitted he had shown poor judgment. He said there was no physical relationship between him and the woman, but acknowledged that he failed to establish appropriate boundaries early enough.

Faishal, who has served as a Member of Parliament since 2006 and became Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs in 2025, said he was stepping down to uphold public trust in the government.

The resignation adds to a series of political controversies that have affected Singapore's ruling People's Action Party in recent years, despite its long-standing reputation for clean governance. Prime Minister Wong said he was saddened by Faishal's departure but stressed that political leaders must be held to the highest standards of conduct.
