Samsung Electronics has launched its latest lineup of foldable smartphones, unveiling three new Galaxy Z devices powered by artificial intelligence while raising prices on its premium models.
The new lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold8, a compact "passport-sized" foldable designed for immersive entertainment, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra aimed at productivity users, and the Galaxy Z Flip8, which focuses on portability and AI-powered experiences.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is priced at $1,899, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra at $2,099, and the Galaxy Z Flip8 at $1,199—each premium foldable costing $100 more than the previous generation.
Samsung said all three devices are equipped with Google's Gemini AI, with Galaxy AI features optimized for each foldable design to enhance multitasking, automation, and personalized user experiences.
Samsung's Device eXperience chief, TM Roh, said the new foldables represent the company's next step in delivering intelligent mobile experiences as AI becomes more integrated into everyday life.
The launch comes as Samsung prepares for increased competition, with industry analysts expecting Apple to enter the foldable smartphone market later this year.
Despite a slowdown in the global smartphone industry and rising memory chip costs, analysts believe foldable smartphone shipments will continue to grow in 2026, helping Samsung strengthen its position in the premium smartphone market.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra are powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon processor, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 will feature either Qualcomm Snapdragon or Samsung Exynos chips depending on the region.
