Three people have been confirmed dead after suspected gunmen attacked Torok community in Rim Village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack reportedly occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, forcing many residents to flee their homes in search of safety.
The victims were identified as Ezekiel Zakka, David Yakubu, and Dauda Habila.
According to a resident, Albert Tok, the attackers stormed the community and opened fire on residents before escaping.
The Berom Youth Moulders Association condemned the killings, describing the attack as barbaric and expressing sympathy to the bereaved families and the Torok community.
The association called on security agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute those responsible. It also urged the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to strengthen security measures in vulnerable communities across Riyom and other parts of the state.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information, and continue to uphold peace and the rule of law.
As of the time of reporting, the spokespersons of the Plateau State Police Command and Operation Enduring Peace had not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
