NAHCON Urges Prospective Pilgrims to Deposit ₦5 Million for 2027 Hajj.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called on Nigerians intending to perform the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage to make an initial deposit of ₦5 million to secure their participation.

According to the commission, the early deposit initiative is aimed at helping prospective pilgrims spread the cost of the pilgrimage through phased payments while enabling NAHCON to make timely arrangements for accommodation, transportation, and other essential services.

NAHCON also announced that advance deposits have opened for the 2028, 2029, and 2030 Hajj seasons. The commission advised intending pilgrims to save through their respective State Muslim Pilgrims' Welfare Boards, Agencies or Commissions, or approved Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) banks.

The commission explained that the initiative would improve planning, ensure better service delivery, and enhance the overall management of Hajj operations.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards in Kwara and Taraba states have directed intending pilgrims to complete their fare payments and documentation before September 26, 2026, the deadline set by NAHCON and the Saudi authorities.

Kwara State's Executive Secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, warned that delays in payment or documentation could lead to visa processing issues and prevent pilgrims from participating in the 2027 Hajj.

Similarly, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Tanko, announced that intending pilgrims in the state are required to make an initial deposit of ₦7 million. He added that the board would launch a statewide awareness campaign to educate pilgrims on new Saudi Hajj policies and guidelines.

Tanko urged intending pilgrims to make their payments early to avoid missing the deadline. He also noted that 714 pilgrims from Taraba successfully performed the 2026 Hajj, although one pilgrim died and another lost a hand in a road accident before departure.
