Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has declared that any lasting peace agreement between Iran and the United States depends on Israel ending its military operations in Lebanon.
In a statement posted on X, Khamenei said Iran considers the "absolute and unconditional termination" of Israeli attacks on Lebanon a key condition for any agreement aimed at ending the conflict with the United States.
He also reaffirmed Iran's support for Hezbollah, its late leader Hassan Nasrallah, and the people of southern Lebanon, describing the group's defense as a strategic priority for the Islamic Republic.
Khamenei's remarks come amid reports of renewed diplomatic efforts and a temporary pause in hostilities between Iran and the United States. Tehran has consistently maintained that Israel must halt its operations in Lebanon before any broader peace deal can move forward.
The comments follow the collapse of a June memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran after disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high in southern Lebanon. Lebanese military officials have accused Israeli forces of delaying their withdrawal from agreed areas under a US-mediated framework, while Israeli military operations reportedly continue in parts of the region.
The latest conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths in Lebanon and dozens of Israeli military and civilian casualties, underscoring the growing regional instability.
The developments come as fighting also expands into Yemen, with reports of renewed exchanges involving the Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia.
