Eight people, including six children, were found dead after a house fire in Grand Haven Township, Michigan, in what authorities believe may be a murder-suicide.

Emergency responders arrived at the home shortly before noon on Friday after receiving reports of a fire. Upon entering the residence, firefighters and law enforcement officers discovered the victims inside.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the children were between the ages of five and 15. Investigators said some of the victims had sustained gunshot wounds, although officials have not disclosed the exact number.

Authorities described the scene as complex and confirmed they are not searching for any outside suspects. Preliminary findings suggest the incident may have been a murder-suicide involving members of the household.

Officials also believe the fire was deliberately set, prompting Michigan State Police arson investigators to assist with the investigation.

The identities of the victims and the exact causes of death have not yet been released as the investigation continues.

Grand Haven Township is located along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, about 25 miles west of Grand Rapids.
