Edo Electoral Commission Recruits 10,000 Ad Hoc Staff for Local Government Elections

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) says it has recruited and trained 10,000 ad hoc personnel ahead of Saturday's local government elections across the state.

Speaking at a press briefing in Benin City on Thursday, EDSIEC Chairman Jonathan Aifuobhokhan said the commission had completed all preparations to ensure a peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible election.

According to him, all election officials have been properly trained, while sensitive and non-sensitive election materials have been sorted, packaged, and distributed to local government offices for deployment.

He added that special logistics have been arranged to deliver election materials to riverine and hard-to-reach communities, ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate.

Aifuobhokhan disclosed that voting will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while election results will be transmitted manually.

He expressed confidence that the commission's logistics, security coordination, communication systems, and operational plans are fully in place, assuring residents that the election will reflect the true will of the people.
