Chinese Rescuers Use Explosives to Reach Victims Trapped by Chongqing Landslide

Rescue teams in southwestern China have used controlled explosives to break apart massive boulders blocking access to people trapped after a deadly landslide in Chongqing Municipality.

The landslide occurred along the Wujiang River in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, burying sections of the area under large rocks and debris. Emergency workers have been working around the clock, using heavy machinery and carefully planned blasting operations to remove obstacles and search for survivors.

Rescuers continue to face difficult conditions due to unstable terrain and the risk of additional rockfalls, slowing search efforts. Medical teams remain on standby as emergency personnel race against time to locate anyone still trapped beneath the rubble.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely while investigations into the cause of the landslide continue. Rescue operations are expected to continue until all affected areas have been thoroughly searched.
