A British couple imprisoned in Iran on espionage charges have continued their hunger strike, citing poor prison conditions, inadequate medical care, and restrictions on contact with their families.
According to Iranian human rights group HRANA, Craig and Lindsay Foreman have lost significant weight during the protest. Lindsay is reportedly suffering from dizziness, severe weakness, and body tremors, but has allegedly not received a medical examination for several days.
The couple were arrested in Iran in January 2025 while travelling by motorcycle and were each sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of espionage. They have consistently denied the allegations, saying they were not given a fair chance to defend themselves and that no credible evidence was presented.
HRANA also said the pair have only been allowed to speak with their lawyer by telephone and remain unable to contact their families or each other. Items sent by the British Embassy, including medication, eyeglasses, books, and hygiene supplies, have reportedly not been delivered.
The British government has previously condemned the convictions as unjust and continues to call for the couple's release. Iranian authorities had not commented on the latest allegations at the time of reporting.
