European ambassadors from the UK, France, and Germany have urged Moscow to enter direct peace negotiations with Kyiv during rare talks held at Russia’s foreign ministry.
The diplomats, representing the so-called E3 group of Ukraine’s key allies, conveyed messages from recent discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London, where support was expressed for renewed direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
Moscow, however, accused the three European countries of pursuing a “destructive” policy and claimed they were encouraging the continuation of the war.
Rare diplomatic engagement
Such meetings between Western European diplomats and Russian officials have been uncommon since the start of the war, although ambassadors are frequently summoned by Moscow. Despite tensions, several European governments have recently floated the idea of reopening channels with Russia to explore possible peace negotiations.
Battlefield and infrastructure pressure
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue to intensify strikes on Russian logistics and supply routes, particularly in occupied territories linking Russia to Crimea. Reports indicate significant disruption along key transport corridors, including damage to bridges and military supply routes.
Ukrainian drone operations have reportedly reduced military traffic on critical highways and disrupted fuel and ammunition deliveries.
Fuel shortages in Crimea
Fuel supplies in Russian-occupied Crimea have been severely affected, with reports of petrol shortages and long queues at the few operational stations. Authorities say Ukrainian strikes on supply routes have hindered deliveries by road, rail, and sea.
Local officials in Sevastopol and surrounding regions acknowledged ongoing disruptions and rationing measures as shortages spread.
Wider regional impacts
Elsewhere, Russian regions near the Ukrainian border reported casualties following shelling incidents, while Ukraine’s railway system continues to face attacks but has still managed to increase grain export shipments.
Russian energy exports also showed slight declines in seaborne shipments, though analysts say global price shifts have partially offset sanctions pressure.
