Two Roadside Bomb Blasts Kill At Least Seven in Northwestern Pakistan

At least seven people have been killed after two roadside bomb explosions in northwestern Pakistan, officials say.

The first blast targeted a passenger vehicle on Saturday, while the second explosion occurred as rescuers arrived to help the victims, according to police.

A police officer in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said the vehicle was hit by a remotely controlled improvised explosive device (IED). Three people were injured while being taken to hospital after another IED detonated.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and promised that those responsible would be brought to justice.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, armed groups, including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), are active in the region near the Afghanistan border.

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have worsened in recent months, with Islamabad accusing Kabul of allowing armed groups to operate from Afghan territory — a claim Afghanistan’s Taliban government denies.

The violence has also led to cross-border tensions, including air strikes and clashes between the two countries.
