Three Security Personnel Killed in Attack on Pakistan’s Karachi Facility

At least three paramilitary personnel have been killed after heavily armed attackers stormed a security compound in Karachi, Pakistan, police said.

Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho said four attackers were also killed during the assault on the Rangers headquarters in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Saturday evening.

Reports said around five armed men attacked the compound after a suspected suicide bomber drove an explosives-filled vehicle into the entrance, causing a powerful explosion.

Authorities said security forces sealed off roads around the Mosamiat Chowrangi area as heavy gunfire was heard. A clearance operation was launched with the Special Security Unit, Anti-Terrorist Force and Rangers personnel deployed.

The Edhi Foundation said at least two people were injured and taken to hospital.

An affiliate of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a splinter group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), later claimed responsibility for the attack, saying nine attackers took part.

Pakistan has continued to face armed attacks targeting security forces in different parts of the country.
