Two of the world’s most powerful camera phones have gone head-to-head, and surprisingly, neither is an iPhone. The battle is between the Xiaomi Leica Leitzphone and the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, two premium smartphones designed to challenge traditional cameras.
Hardware: Leica’s Innovation vs Oppo’s Power
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra features an impressive camera setup, including a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and another 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom.
The Leitzphone, however, introduces more advanced camera technology. It uses a larger 1-inch-type sensor with LOFIC technology, allowing it to capture high dynamic range images in a single shot.

Image Quality Test
In outdoor photography tests, the Leitzphone produced more natural images with better control of highlights and shadows. CNET found that Oppo’s image processing sometimes made photos look too bright or overly processed.
The Leica phone preserved more realistic details, especially in buildings, clouds, and landscapes.
However, Oppo’s camera delivered stronger colors and more vibrant images in some situations, which many users may prefer.
Zoom Performance
Oppo takes the lead in zoom capability. Its 10x optical zoom captured impressive details, and its optional external telephoto lens can reach extremely high zoom levels.
The Leitzphone’s zoom range is smaller but offers better everyday usability with a continuous zoom system that maintains image quality.
Night Photography
Both phones performed very well at night.
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra produced sharper details and better low-light performance, especially with its ultrawide camera.
But the Leica phone again offered a more natural look, while Oppo sometimes increased brightness and colors too aggressively.
Final Verdict
After extensive testing, CNET’s Andrew Lanxon chose the Xiaomi Leica Leitzphone as the better overall camera phone.
