Terrorists Abduct OPC Leader and Two Others During Ransom Mission in Kwara.

Panic has spread following the abduction of a chieftain of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Comrade Bayo Fabiyi, and two other persons in Oko-Irese, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Reports indicate that Fabiyi was kidnapped alongside a driver and another associate while they were reportedly on their way to deliver ransom and supplies for the release of a previously kidnapped victim.

Sources said the group was carrying about ₦30 million, five motorcycles, and three bags of rice when armed men ambushed them.

The mission was reportedly connected to efforts to secure the freedom of a victim who had earlier been abducted in the same community.

A source close to the incident claimed the earlier kidnapped victim had already been killed by the attackers before the ransom team arrived, but those sent for the negotiation were unaware.

The attackers were said to have led the victims into a forest area along the route between Kwara and Kogi States before seizing them at gunpoint.

It was also reported that Fabiyi had received advice against making the trip but proceeded with the journey.

The incident had not initially been reported to security authorities.

When contacted, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the command had not received any official report concerning the alleged kidnapping of an OPC member.

He, however, assured that the police would investigate the matter once a formal complaint was submitted.
