The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Niger State.
According to a statement shared on the scheme’s official X account, the suspension is due to ongoing renovation work at the NYSC orientation camp in the state.
The announcement stated that the exercise has been put on hold until further notice while rehabilitation work continues at the facility.
It read: “This is to notify the General Public and Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their Orientation Course Exercise is suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the Orientation Camp.”
The NYSC added that affected corps members will be informed of new arrangements, including where and when to report for their orientation programme.
It also expressed regret over the disruption and apologized for the inconvenience caused to corps members and their families.
The suspension follows damage caused by a severe windstorm earlier in the year, which affected several structures at the Paiko NYSC orientation camp in Paikoro Local Government Area, including hostels, halls, kitchens, and staff quarters. The state government has since begun rehabilitation work on the facilities.
Meanwhile, the nationwide 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise began on June 10 and is scheduled to end on June 30, but only corps members posted to Niger State are affected by the suspension.
