NNPC–SNEPCo Launches 2026 Fully Funded UK Master’s Scholarship for Nigerian Graduates

The Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), in collaboration with NNPC Limited and its co-venture partners, has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 NNPC–SNEPCo Postgraduate Scholarship Programme.

The initiative offers fully funded opportunities for Nigerian students to pursue one-year Master’s degree programmes in selected universities in the United Kingdom, specifically the University of Aberdeen and Newcastle University.

Study Areas and Partner Universities

Successful candidates will study in high-demand technical and engineering-related fields.

University of Aberdeen programmes include:

MSc Geophysics

MSc Safety & Reliability Engineering for Oil & Gas

MSc Advanced Chemical Engineering

MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience


Newcastle University programmes include:

MSc Data Science

MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

MSc Artificial Intelligence

MSc Robotics and AI

MSc Engineering Management

MSc Sustainable Chemical Engineering

MSc Marine and Ocean Engineering


Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a Nigerian citizen residing in Nigeria

Be between 21 and 28 years old by 30 September 2026

Have completed the NYSC programme by September 2026

Hold (or be expecting) at least a UK Upper Second-Class equivalent degree

Possess strong leadership potential and academic excellence

Have IELTS score of at least 6.5 or meet equivalent English language requirements

Not have previously studied in the UK or other developed countries

Hold a valid Nigerian international passport (valid until at least December 2026)

Secure admission into one of the eligible courses before applying for the scholarship


Scholarship Coverage

The programme provides comprehensive financial support, including:

Full tuition fees

One return economy flight ticket between Nigeria and the United Kingdom

Contribution toward living expenses during the study period


Application Procedure

The application process follows a two-stage system:

1. Candidates must first apply for admission into one of the participating universities and eligible programmes.

2. After securing admission, eligible candidates will be invited to apply for the scholarship.

3. Shortlisted applicants may undergo interviews conducted by the universities.

4. Final selection will be made jointly by the universities and SNEPCo.


Deadline

The closing date for applications is June 8, 2026.

The scholarship is part of ongoing efforts by NNPC and SNEPCo to support capacity building and develop skilled professionals in engineering, energy, data science, and related fields for Nigeria’s future development.
