Israeli Forces Face Ambush in Southern Lebanon, Hezbollah Reports Intense Fighting

The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah said its fighters carried out a series of operations against Israeli forces attempting to advance into areas of southern Lebanon, claiming to have damaged military vehicles and forced troops to withdraw.

According to Hezbollah, fighters ambushed an Israeli military convoy near the town of Majdal Zoun, using small arms, rocket-propelled grenades, and rocket fire during clashes that reportedly lasted several hours. The group said several military vehicles were hit and set ablaze during the confrontation.

Hezbollah also reported launching multiple rocket barrages at Israeli troop positions around the town and claimed to have targeted another Israeli infantry unit attempting to enter Kfar Tebnit. The group said explosive devices were detonated before direct fighting began, forcing Israeli forces to retreat.

The reported clashes come amid intensified fighting in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces have increased military operations in areas surrounding Nabatieh and Tyre.

The escalation follows months of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah despite previous ceasefire efforts. Lebanese authorities say the conflict has caused thousands of deaths and injuries and displaced large numbers of civilians since fighting intensified earlier this year.

Israeli authorities had not immediately commented on Hezbollah's claims, which could not be independently verified.
