The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, announced the result early Sunday, saying Oyebanji secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest rivals.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Oluwole Oluyede, received 40,543 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Party (ADP) scored 12,872 votes.
INEC said 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, with 375,777 valid votes recorded.
Voting started at about 8:31 a.m. on Saturday and ended at 2:30 p.m., with thousands of residents participating across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The results showed Oyebanji’s APC winning in most local government areas, including Ado, Ekiti West, Ijero, Ikole, and Ekiti East.
The election results were collated at the State Collation Centre before INEC made the final declaration.
