Kebbi State Police Command says it has arrested four suspects over the killing of eight people during a farmers-herders clash in Gulma town, Argungu Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, said the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigations are completed.
The victims were reportedly killed following tensions sparked by the alleged murder of a farmer by a Fulani herder while working on his farmland. The incident later led to a reprisal attack, causing more deaths and increasing tension in the community.
The arrested suspects were identified as Musa Makera, Saidu Adamu, Shafi’u Hamza, and Adamu Madugu. They are expected to face charges including criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and culpable homicide.
Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects linked to the violence.
The Kebbi Police Commissioner, Umar Hadejia, urged residents to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, assuring the public that those responsible would face justice.
