NSCDC Mobilises 56,000 Officers Nationwide for Tight Security During Eid Celebrations.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 56,000 personnel across the country to strengthen security during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

The Corps said the large-scale deployment is aimed at safeguarding lives, protecting property, and securing critical national infrastructure throughout the holiday period.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, ordered the immediate mobilisation of officers and operational equipment ahead of the celebrations.

The deployment also includes vehicles, ambulances, boats, and K9 units, all positioned for rapid emergency response where needed.

According to the statement, all specialised units within the Corps have been placed on high alert. These include the Mining Marshals, Special Intelligence Squad, Crack Squad, Female Special Force, and the Rapid Response Squad.

The NSCDC explained that zonal commanders have been instructed to oversee operations within their regions, while state commandants are expected to supervise field officers to ensure strict compliance with security directives.

The Corps also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with other security agencies to maintain peace during the festive period. Citizens were urged to report any suspicious activity or security threats to authorities promptly.

It further warned individuals or groups planning to disrupt public peace or damage public infrastructure during the celebrations to desist, stressing that offenders would face arrest and prosecution.
